The one thing I learned.....

The Germanic name "Hans," is a nick-name!!!!

An ancestor of mine was listed as "Hans" in my records. But, then I found his name abbreviated as "Joh."

This gave me some clues, but I had to confirm it.....

"Joh." is an abbreviation for "Johan" or "Johannes."

"Hans" is a nick-name for "John!" My "Hans" was also "Johan(nes)!"

My mom used to call me "Fart-blossom"..... I wonder what name THAT could be........
